Penguins in Kindergarten!

Bingo dotter penguin

We have begun to learn about penguins.  We use both fiction and non-fiction to learn and to help us "unlearn" a few things we thought we knew (like polar bears eating penguins).

We also include a little penguin art.  Penguins are so fun and easy to make.  Everyone is very successful.  We made some penguins by using dotters (I found black ones at the dollar store.  Woohoo!).  We made some penguin puppets (which were super cute but I forgot to take pictures of all of them.  I found this one in my little friend's mailbox waiting to go home).

And we made little penguin books.  The children get to choose to either write a non-fiction or a fiction book.  We discussed some of their ideas today and they decorated their covers.  Tomorrow their task is to draw and write on the first page.

I plan to have them work on the little books all week.  We will also make a class book of penguin facts on Friday.  They will each get to make a page.

I really love how they all have their own personalities.
