Honoring MLK and Peace

Each year as we teach our kids about Martin Luther King, we also read The Peace Book by Todd Parr.  We use the book as a springboard for the kids to write about peace.  We discuss Parr's illustrations and do a few art projects to practice.  Then we draw on paper provided by a book making company.  I write what the kids say but some of my friends (who are braver than I am) help them write their words (it is on the back of another child's picture and I am afraid they will mess up someone else's work).  Then we send it off to be published into a hardbound book.  The parents can order them and we get a free one for the classroom.  I really love how it turns out.
