We did a cute and easy art activity yesterday for the book, The Day It Rained Hearts.
I precut the hearts from a colorful stack of tissue paper, mixed some glue and water, and provided the sponge paintbrushes. The kids chose the hearts, painted the whole paper with glue water, and added more glue water on top of the hearts (so they are really wet and will stick nicely). Then they painted some watercolors around the hearts.
Some of the hearts bled a little (which I think is a nice watery effect). All of the kids were really engaged and happy during this little art project: success!
